Saturday, May 7 – Clash of the Teen Musicians music competition under our new bandshell at the Foothills Arts Council, 129 Church St., Elkin, 7 p.m. Surry, Yadkin and Wilkes residents ages 13-17 can compete for cash prizes in solo, duet and band categories. March 18-20 – Art in the Garden at the Foothills Arts Council, 129 Church St., Elkin, presents an original comedy by Leighanne Martin, “Olivia de Havilland’s Birthday,” at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 3 p.m. Sunday. Bring your own chairs and coolers for this free performance.
Feb. 19-21 – Foothills Theatre presents its annual dessert theater show with the comedy, “Over the River and Through the Woods,” at First Baptist Church Elkin fellowship hall, 110 Gwyn Ave., Elkin. Show times are 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $12 and include dessert, coffee and tea.
In the spirit of our other wonderful outdoor performances (Love, Loss and What I Wore; The Vagina Monologues; Motherhood Out Loud; Almost Maine) I am thrilled to present my original play for our next outdoor production. “Road Trip” stars Mary Keller and Stacey Libbert, with Morgan Harrison, Anna Taylor, Grace Harrison, Christie Harrison, Newell Hauser, David Nielsen, Sarah Moxley, and Judy Deck. Venue change for the Sunday, June 14, 2 p.m. performance of “Road Trip” – instead of the garden (fearing too much heat), the play will be performed inside the Liberty, 222 E. Main St., Elkin. The garden will be the venue for the first two performances on June 5 & June 13 at 8 p.m.
